COIN HIGHLIGHTS

The obverse side displays the legendary right-facing effigy of a proud Native American Indian, designed by James Earle Fraser. The design combines an image of three Native American Chiefs from different tribes: Two Moons (Cheyenne), John Big Tree (Seneca), and Iron Tail (Lakota). The Word "Liberty" is the coin's legend in bold lettering.

The reverse design depicts an American bison, which legend dictates is Black Diamond, a Bison that served as the main attraction of the Central Park Zoo in the 20th century. The coin's nation of issue accompanies the image, its $50 face value guaranteed by the US government, weight and purity, and the mottos "In God we Trust," and the Latin phrase "E Pluribus Unum" ("Of Many, One in English).

The American Buffalo is an official gold bullion coin of the United States of America, produced by the reputable United States Mint at the West Point Mint branch. Gold Buffaloes have the purest gold content amongst all the US Mint bullion coins with .9999 Pure Gold (24 kt).
